Women’s Wilderness Weekend of RI, a non-profit gathering women for weekends of camaraderie, crafts and outdoor activities, providing respite from daily stresses among the supportive company of fellow women, had been around 25 years. Their web presence showed its age, holding back their visibility and the effectiveness of their continuous, but sluggish, recruiting efforts. The organization began a revitalization, and I volunteered my time to help their website help them reach their goals.
I re-worked their website, womenswildernessri.com, tranferring the 1990s hosting and template to modern services on a WordPress platform. I updated existing content and added blogs, events and optimized images to make their retreats and camaraderie highly visible to people looking for them, and I’m thrilled to report I was successful there. Google “Women’s retreats RI“, and you’ll find the site at the top of organic results.
The organization began to rally, and the non-profit’s new visibility aided their amazing efforts to organize smaller hikes and gatherings during the pandemic years. Finally, their efforts began paying off with new recruits and board members. This year, the organization reported its first-ever sold out retreat for their May 3 weekend retreat.
I’m proud to have played a small role in putting their worthy organization on the map, where it belongs.
